Dallas Achieves is a
comprehensive effort of the school district and the broader Dallas
community to transform the Dallas Independent School District
(Dallas ISD) into one of the best urban school districts in the
country over the next four years. Dr. Michael Hinojosa,
Dallas ISD General Superintendent, and the Board of Trustees
crafted a three tiered agenda around which to coordinate efforts.
Those three agenda items are:
The adoption of
aggressive and specific performance targets for all student groups
in the areas of academic achievement, college readiness and dealing
with at-risk students.
The identification by the National Center for Educational
Accountability (NCEA) of five macro goals on which to measure the
district’s progress; compare Dallas ISD progress to that of
the school districts of Austin, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston and
San Antonio; and create annual reports on Dallas ISD’s
progress.
The strategic alignment of resources in the district to reach the
goals with the assistance of the NCEA and a major professional
services firm(s) to review all resources in the district and
provide commendations and recommendations as a result of such an
audit.
